Transplant postponed:  Today the doctor informed us that Mom's transplant has been postponed for  3 weeks, maybe 4.  A minor medical issue has arisen with the donor.  The doctor said it is not enough of a concern that this donor cannot be used, but we need to wait.
However, there is a second potential donor that is now being reconsidered, possibly even a third.  We knew of the second , were surprised to hear about the third. Some people wait a very long time to find one.
Again none of these are a perfect match, but possibly all evenly suited for mom. The team is working as quickly as possible to secure one and the sooner the better, mom's platelets were down lower again this week, she will need more transfusions until the transplant.  Platelets only last a few days, so it will be a challenge to keep them up without becoming immune to the treatment. Please pray as that mom's health will be sustained during the extra waiting, this setback is quite a concern to us. So thankful this prayer has been answered so far.

As for the donor(s), we don't know who these people are, or which one will be used, but we are humbled and thankful for the willingness of  strangers to give part of themselves and their time to save a life.  Today's news has been a fresh reminder to pray diligently for this person and their well being, so many things could happen, we need the protecting hand of the Lord over them as well.

The timing of this all has always been wrapped in God's loving plan for our lives.  We will trust His timing.

Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
22 Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.  Psalm 33:20-22

  1. Can we as an extended family donate and offer a potential match?? We've all been wondering if we can participate and want to offer not only our love and prayers but our own family bone marrow too - how can we offer this up for our precious Sister Sandy? Is it an option?? thanks!

    1. thank you dear Julie, many have asked that same thing, but its quite a process and we don't get to choose those who are tested, my best option, besides a sibling, is still the way we did find these potential donors, from the general registry! My story is a good reminder though, for anyone who is able to consider joining the registry, or donate blood & platelets, so needed and keeping me going while I wait.

  2. Praying for you, dear Sandy! May the Lord be near and dear to you as you go this way. May He also sustain and strengthen your husband, Jeff and each one of your children. He knows our infirmities and He is the Great Physician of both body and soul. What a hope we have in Jesus!

  3. Oh so hard to understand His ways.....

    Phil. 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

    May you have this peace .........
    we continue to uphold you in prayer.
    Love you.
